An insightful session on edge AI, model compression, and more with Vishnu & Avinash

We recently hosted the second edition of TrenZTalks, featuring two of our resident tech enthusiasts, Vishnu Suresh and Avinash Baiju, who delivered insightful presentations on the evolving world of Artificial Intelligence. The session provided a deeper understanding of two key areas shaping the future of AI: Edge AI and Model Compression.

The session kicked off with Vishnu’s presentation on Edge AI, which emphasized how processing data locally on devices close to the source (such as smartphones or IoT devices) reduces latency, enhances security, and lowers bandwidth usage. He also explored real-world applications of Edge AI in fields like healthcare, autonomous vehicles, and smart cities, while addressing challenges such as resource constraints on edge devices, which need to be overcome to fully unlock their potential.

Next, Avinash took the stage to discuss Model Compression focusing on techniques such as pruning, quantization, and knowledge distillation to reduce the size and complexity of AI models. He explained how these methods enhance efficiency, enabling AI models to run on resource-constrained devices like mobile phones or embedded systems without compromising performance, a critical factor in real-world applications. He also touched on the ongoing challenge of maintaining the balance between computational efficiency and model accuracy.
